Lecture as part of the Voice Research Unit: Dr. Anabel Hacker (TU Berlin)
In everyday communication, we unconsciously form impressions of others based on their voices and faces, evaluating e.g. attractiveness, likability, and personality within milliseconds. But which channel – voice or face – has a stronger influence on these judgements? Dr. Hacker will present findings from three perception experiments investigating the integration of vocal and facial cues using 31 female voices and faces. Moreover, the talk will touch on previous research about how synthetic voices are perceived by listeners regarding the perception of personality and feature work in progress on how brand personality is conveyed by voice and whether speech can give insight into psychotherapy constructs.
