Excursions

The Chair of Ancient History has organised several excursions over the past few years. 

  • Turkey (Istanbul, archaeological sites around the Sea of Marmara) from 14. to 23. March 2013
  • Turkey (Provinces Asia, Lykien, Pamphylien) from 16. to 26. March 2015
  • Rome from 20. to 29. September 2017
  • Greece (Athens, Peloponnes, Delphi) from 21. March to 2. April 2020 (cancelled due to pandemic situation)
  • Greece (Athens, Peloponnes, Delphi) from 9. to 20. March 2024

Winterschools in Georgia

Since 2014, a total of five winter schools were held at the Institute of Classical Studies of the Ivane Javakhishvili State University in Tbilisi, Georgia. These winterschools are organised in collaboration with colleagues in Tbilisi, Bremen and Jena.

  • 10.-16. February 2014: Without a fixed theme.
  • 27. February-6. March 2016: Zur Epigraphik: Probleme, Methoden, Ergebnisse.
  • 5.-12. March 2017: The Caucasus in Antiquity: Historical Panorama, Sources.
  • 8.-16. February 2018: Identitäten, Völker, Ethnien in der Antike.
  • 22. February-1. March 2019: Klientelreiche in der Antike.
