University of Jena as a guest at Unilorin
The IWK and the International Office as guests at the University of Ilorin in March 2026
The worldwide partnerships in the Erasmus+ programme play a central role in the internationalisation of our institution of higher education and the promotion of global academic cooperation. Through cooperation between European universities and partner institutions worldwide, the programme enables the exchange of students, teaching staff and administrative personnel as well as the development of joint study and research projects. These partnerships strengthen intercultural competences, promote the transfer of knowledge and contribute to the improvement of the quality of teaching and research.
The institute of Intercultural Business Communication cooperates with the following partner universities as part of the Erasmus+ ICM programme ("International Credit Mobility"/ Key Action 171):
This Erasmus+ programme is open to doctoral candidates and teaching staff at FSU Jena.
Since 2024, our institute has been cooperating with the University of Ilorin and Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. As part of the intercultural exchange, students from Nigeria have already spent a semester at the University of Jena as part of an EU-funded Erasmus+ cooperation programme. In March 2026, the IWK (represented by Prof Dr Christoph Vatter and Nils-Christian Terp) and the International Office of the University of Jena (represented by Dr Claudia Hillinger) visited the two partner universities in Nigeria. We are expecting more students for the summer semester 2026 and will welcome a delegation of representatives from our two partner universities to the University of Jena in May 2026.
Intercultural exchange and intercultural learning are at the centre of this collaboration. Through academic cooperation, joint research projects and the exchange of students and researchers, we want to bring together different perspectives and jointly generate new knowledge and develop skills. The exchange will contribute to tackling global challenges together, promoting sustainable development and building institutional networks between the countries. The cooperation is to be further intensified in the future as part of a project in Capacity Building & Employability.
