Information about the Jena Summer School of Indo-European 2026

General information

The next edition of the Jena Summer School of Indo-European (JESSIE) is planned for August 31 until September 4, 2026.

The Summer School is dedicated to the topic of Indo-European Phonology. In addition to traditional subjects in IE segmental and word level phonology, JESSIE 2026 will lay special focus on phrase level prosody as well as methodological issues in phonological reconstruction. Teachers and courses are:

Martin Kümmel (Jena): Topics in the segmental phonology of Indo-European
Ronald Kim (Poznań): Word stress in synchrony and diachrony
Cassandra Freiberg (Jena): Prosodic reconstruction
Götz Keydana (Göttingen): Prosodic structure in Vedic Sanskrit and beyond

Participation is free of charge and can be rewarded with 2 ECTS points.
